Welcome to the Circuit & System Lab(CSL), part of the Measure & Test Centre (MTC)

In the Circuit & System Lab you can electronically measure/test over a wide frequency range (DC-50 GHz)  the circuits (IC) and systems on state-of-the-art equipment. For instance parameters like Noise Figure, Phase-Noise, IPx, S,Z,Y, Jitter as well as DC parameters can be measured. System design parameters like BER, EVM and THD parameters can also be determined.

All can be handled on wafer/die level or packaged. Some impressions of our Circuit & System Lab:

Semi-automatic Probestation PA200 w. ATT temp control (-40 to +300 C)

RF-Spectrum measurements under control of Matlab

Setup to measure the B(it) E(rror) R(ate)

Measuring a Die mounted on a PCB

Most of the instruments in our Lab are controlled by PC's (Windows 2000, XP, Vista and NT), so measurements can be carried out automatically as well as manually. All controllers are configured in a network, this enables us to easily exchange all the measured/simulated results for pre/post processing with programs like e.g. LabView, EXCEL, MATLAB, Mathcad, etc...

Education

At our ICD chair we use some of our equipment also for educational purposes in our Master Courses like Microwave Techniques (191211720). During this course students use a networkanalyzer and power meter together with Agilent ADS to compare measurements with ADS-simulations. For assignment details, see the Lab Manual.

Furthermore a Msc-Course WTE (Wireless Transceiver Electronics) (191211500) is offered where insight in the operation and design of wireless transceiver electronics is presented. The final examination concerns a design assignment that includes deriving circuit specifications from radio system specifications, designing a receiver circuit block and simulating of its performance using state-of-the-art industrial simulation software (SpectreRF, Agilent's VSA89600 and Advanced Design System (ADS)).

What's New

The following is a list of recent investments in our Circuit & System Lab.

-  An Agilent Digital Oscilloscope DSZ204a, 4 channels 20 GHz analog bandwidth (80 Gsa/s)

- The Agilent E5061B Vector Network Analyzer / Impedance Analyzer @ 100kHz-3GHz / 5Hz-30MHz (replaces the HP4194A Gain-Phase Impedance Analyzer)

Whenever we expand our Circuit & System Lab with new instruments and/or software, we'll put this notice here above. Each item is linked to the page with the updated content.
